Bill Wichterman is a non-lawyer member of Covington’s Government Affairs practice. Most recently, Mr. Wichterman served as Policy Advisor to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. He was active in shaping the legislative strategy for the Senate floor, coordinating committee activity, developing policy on a broad range of issues, and interacting with outside business and interest group coalitions.
Mr. Wichterman is skilled at developing and implementing comprehensive strategies -- including the media, opinion-makers, and interest groups -- to accomplish policy goals. From nearly two decades of government service, he has extensive knowledge of the policy-making and political structures in Washington.
Mr. Wichterman has more than 16 years of experience -- in both the House and Senate -- and has been active in many facets of policy-making, including health care, intellectual property, litigation reform, and tax policy. He has been active in the leadership of various House Chief of Staff organizations. He has experience in congressional and presidential campaigns, and was a key staff participant on the Republican Convention's Platform Committee in 2004.
