Veteran jockey in ICU after pre-race accident
Veteran jockey E.J. Perrodin remained in intensive care Saturday, a day after a filly threw him and then fell on top of him during warmups for a race at New Orleans Fair Grounds. The 50-year-old rider has a broken pelvis and ribs and a lacerated liver, his agent, Tony Martin, said Saturday. Perrodin is in stable condition at Tulane Medical Center, the agent added. Martin said doctors want to stop the bleeding in his liver before attempting surgery.
